Chinese Metaphysical Arts

There are 5 Chinese metaphysical arts: Shan, Yi, Pu, Ming, Xiang


Shan - Chinese philosophy on the study of man and nature. Other studies that can be included are physical health, martial arts, meditation and self-healing. Examples include Qi Gong and Tai Chi Chuan.


Yi - deals with healing. Includes all form of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture.


Pu - Divination or Prediction and the Yi Qing is part of this art. Popular studies include Tai Yi, Da Liu Re, Qi Men and Dua Yi. It relies on numerical analysis to reveal one’s part and future. Tai Yi for example was used by Chinese Emperors as an art of warfare. To be able to learn Pu, one should learn Ming first as Da Liu Ren and Qi Men Dun Jia uses 4 pillar knowledge as well.


Ming is associate with fate and horoscope studies, such as the Bazi also called the 4 pillars or 8 characters and Zi Wei Dou Shu Purple Star Astrology.


Xiang refers to the study of the forms includes the art of Feng Shui.
